Five iconic gowns worn by Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939) designed by Walter Plunkett are in danger. They have been languishing for years and are in fragile condition, but now the Harry Ransom Center is trying to raise $30,000 for restoration of the costumes. The center hopes the dresses will be restored so they can be displayed in a 2014 exhibition celebrating the 75th anniversary of Gone with the Wind.
